An Evening With… Bob and Joe Ives, Nick Dimbleby, and the Camel Trophy

Although it is now over two decades since the last Camel Trophy event, the self-styled ‘Legend in Adventure’ is still held in high esteem by Land Rover enthusiasts and adventure-seekers alike. From 1980 to 2000, Camel Trophy took over 500 amateur adventurers from 35 different countries on extraordinary and challenging adventures in some of the world’s most inhospitable places. On most of these events, teams drove in specially prepared Land Rovers, taking them to the limit and beyond in some of the harshest environments known to motorised vehicles.

In locations as varied as Borneo, Mongolia, Papua New Guinea and Tanzania, teams and their vehicles were tested every inch of the way, creating incredible stories that have remained untold for the past two decades. Well over forty years after the first Land Rovers were used on the event, the interest in Camel Trophy remains as strong as ever.

Bob, Joe and Nick competed in, worked on, photographed and drove in multiple Camel Trophies, and as such, they are uniquely positioned to tell the stories behind the event.  Between them they have taken part in no less than eleven different Camel Trophies, as well as participating in numerous national and international selections in the UK, Spain, France, Turkey and Tenerife.

With a rich selection of photographs and some interesting memorabilia to illustrate and accompany their talk, this will be an evening to remember.  Bob and Joe will also be bringing along their 1989 event winning One Ten.
